Announcing North Shore Landscape Photography Workshop on the spectacular North Shore of Lake Superior, August 6 – 9, 2012. This popular workshop is not only full of technical knowledge to take your photography to the next level, but you’ll leave it feeling more confident and inspired to create fine art landscape photography. The maximum number of participants is 10, ensuring personalized experience and plenty of opportunity to work with Alec one-on-one.
Workshop Description
Location: Cove Point Lodge, Beaver Bay, MN. Lodging and Transportation NOT included in course fee. Rooms have been reserved at Cove Point Lodge.
Description Alec’s workshop process is to discuss specific techniques and theories, head out to apply them, and then reflect on the process through image critiques. You will spend a great deal of time shooting, editing and discussing. This workshop has little downtime, working from sunrise to sunset or later, but as with all his courses you can always choose to take a break from the scheduled activities any time you wish. August is a great time to be on Lake Superior with the best weather and no bugs. With a maximum of 10 participants, you can be assured of plenty of direct attention with Alec.

The workshop is designed for the intermediate/advanced photographer interested in developing fine art landscape photography skills. The ideal candidate is comfortable using a digital SLR camera in manual mode, with a solid grasp of aperture, ISO and shutter speed.
Equipment Required: Digital SLR, tripod, laptop with image editing software (I’ll be only teaching Adobe Photoshop CS2/CS3/CS4 Techniques), cable release and any filters you wish to use. Alec provides some filters, but doesn’t have enough to serve the entire class.
The majority (not all) of our classroom time is given to image critique and Photoshop techniques. We’ll spend equal amounts of time shooting big, wide open shoreline landscapes and river/waterfall landscapes.[/tab]
