Rush City Grain Elevator

Yep, another grain elevator shot.  Whew, how many of these can any of you take?  Well, we’ll find out.  I’m going to start including a short video on my thoughts regarding the WHY of the image post as well as the HOW of it.  Today is the first of these.  Please feel free to post any questions or comments about the image and/or video.

THANK YOU.

    Alec,
GREAT photo! I didn’t know it would take so long to dodge and burn to your satisfaction, but you did a great job. Thanks for sharing the technique and for your efforts to teach us something worthwhile.

I especially like the cropping ratio you used. Which one is it?

    Alec,

I really like the subject matter. My favorite image is the photomatix (sp?) before the black and white. I like how it took the original and softened it up … like a lazy summer day (that’s where it put me anyway). The detail in the rail car is great too, and I’m glad you did work to keep/bring that out. The sky when turned to black and white looks brooding and foreboding (redudant?). Interesting, but I like the lazy feeling better. I just really like the warmth of color, and the softer colors more specifically. Really cool shot!

P.S. Illustrator I’m ok with … photoshop, not so much. ;)
