It is very helpful to see how other people handle this process. Thanks for sharing this with us, Alec. I know you have spent years getting to this point in your skill level, and now you just give your hard earned wisdom away. Wow!
Hi Kevin,
Thanks for the feedback. I left out a lot of detail, so if you have questions post them here and I’ll try to answer.
Cheers
Alec
This was very interesting and I wrote down every step to try on my own image. The final didn’t quite look like the final image at the top. It looks like it still needs a high pass layer or some kind of sharpening to get the final shiny look. Did you leave out a step?
Thanks for posting the lighting set! I really want to try this look

Hi, its realy nice tutorial. However, as one post noticed, there are some things left out.
I am interested in which way you get that skin tones on small picture? What are the steps for that please?
Hi Ivan,
Welcome from Belgrade??? You’re IP address suggests that’s where you located. I visited your fine city back in 1996 and had a wonderful time. Thanks for stopping by from so far away!
I don’t remember exactly what I did, but most likely just used a hue/saturation adjustment layer and decreased saturation in the reds of his skin. This is typically needed and I’m guessing that was actually one of the last adjustments I made. Hope this helps and THANK YOU for stopping by.
Cheers,
alec
