I LOVE that purple is your favorite color. The color in that image is a result of a "color shift" that occurs from the heavy filtering, as well as the blue-gold color filter I was using.

I'm leaning more and more towards doing things in camera, but use PS heavily. It just works better for me. I don't think anyone should shy away from photoshop, but I'm also a big fan transparency...just tell me what was done to the image in photoshop.

Thanks again for the comments and for being here.

Cheers,
Alec

That is a great quote, above. I think it fits what the art of photography has always been.

For the most part, I think Photoshop is a good thing and allows photographers to express their artistic creativity in many more ways.

Concerning the two photos above, it's hard for me to make in impartial judgment, since purple is my favorite color. If I were choosing to buy one image or the other to hang on my wall, I would choose the purple, because I like to see purple in my world. I like purple in my house. That it took a few seconds to create the purple is irrelevant to me as a consumer. Artistically, if I were looking at the two in a gallery, I'd be more drawn to the black and white - it has more depth, IMHO.
